Friday was the chilliest night in Borderland so far this season, but it didn't stop many from attending the annual Christmas parade.

According to International Falls Area Chamber of Commerce President Faye Whitbeck, the 'Twas the Lights Before Christmas Parade had another successful year.

"We had a good little parade," she said. "It was a nice crowd, despite the weather... It shows the hardiness of the community."

The event featured floats, horses, whimsical holiday characters, and of course, St. Nick himself.

Prizes were awarded to floats that showcased lights, music and holiday spirit. Winners are:

  • First place - Partners in Education
  • Second place - Dr. Who Tardis by Harley Droba
  • Third place - Essentia Health of International Falls

Honorable mentions included the queen of frost and Christmas characters by Judy Kielczweski and the float made by the Good Samaritan Society - International Falls.

"We were really pleased with all the floats and we think the crowd was, too," Whitbeck said.

To continue with tradition, the Mann family offered sleigh rides before the parade kicked off, which has become a family favorite, Whitbeck said.
