'Lola' with new companion

“Lola” was found abandoned in Alabama. She was left, unable to fend for herself in the heat, on the side of the road in a kennel, where she could have died.

Heart of Alabama Rescue asked for help from several Minnesota rescue agencies and through a team effort, Paws and Claws accepted Lola and another dog, “Izzy.” With the help of volunteer drivers, they embarked on a 16-hour car ride.

A Paws and Claws volunteer drove the last leg of their journey. The dogs were picked up in Chisholm and the volunteer driver, who would also serve to foster Lola, did not know what she got herself into. It was discovered Lola had mange and was timid and afraid. She shook with fear, but still appreciated a kind hand to scratch her behind her ears.

The foster mom and family immediately went into action to get her vetted. In the process of healing, they fell in love with Lola and have adopted her. She’s happy, doing very well, and the family just adores her.

Izzy has also found her forever family.
