The regular meeting of the Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 was called to order at 7 p.m. May 13 by President Pat DeLapp with eight members present.

The opening ritual was held. Roll call of officers was conducted with John Sirotiak, guard, pro-tem and Kathryn Sikkila, conductress, pro-tem. There were no petitions for membership. The General Orders, correspondence and the April meeting minutes were read.

Treasurer Dawn Flesland presented the treasurers report. The report was filed subject to audit.

Committee reports were given by Irene Anderson on Americanism, Youth Activities and Legislative. Bingo at Good Samaritan Society-International Falls, was set for 2:15 p.m. May 16.

Linda Chezick reported on Veterans and Family Support. Memorial Day services will be conducted Monday at 9 a.m. at Ray Cemetery; 10:30 at Kabetogama Cemetery; 11:30 at Ericsburg Cemetery; and 1 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery.

There were no donations.

Taco sales are going good, however will be suspended for the summer months and resume in September.

The raffle license has arrived and a quilt raffle will be planned soon. The auxiliary has two quilts donated by members and plan to sell raffle tickets as a fundraiser.

The 8th District/Loyalty Days festivities went well, thanks to all the volunteers.

The audit of the treasurers books for the period January through March was conducted and approved.

Installation of officers for the 2019-20 year was conducted.

The 2020 calendars from the VFW state of Minnesota are ready. The auxiliary will sell them when they arrive and receive part of the proceeds.

The patriot dogs golf scramble fundraiser will be June 15 at The River Golf Course. The auxiliary was asked to help with the food, however, no decision has yet been made until volunteers are recruited.

A light lunch is scheduled for Memorial Day. Members are asked to bring salads. Those who can help should contact DeLapp.

The charter was draped in memory of departed members Joyce Christensen, who passed away April 13, and Madeline Baron, who passed away May 3.

Door prize was won by Sirotiak.

The meeting concluded at 8:50 p.m. with closing ceremonies.

The next meeting will be at 5 p.m. (earlier time) June 10 in the Post Home dining room. Following the meeting, members will go to the restaurant in the AmericInn. Members attending the meeting will be eligible to win the drawing for a lifetime membership.
