The Littlefork-Big Falls School Board Wednesday agreed to increase school lunch prices by 10-cents per meal.

The new costs for the 2012-13 school year will be $1.85 for elementary students; $2.10 for high school students; and $3.25 for adults.

L-BF Superintendent Fred Seybert reported that the increase stems from the state of Minnesota requiring school districts to offer more fresh fruits and vegetables and less bread.

“(The standards) all have a fiscal impact on school districts,” Seybert told The Journal in an email.

In other business Wednesday, Seybert reported that the board agreed to hire John Larson as the head football coach and Dan Beste as a social studies teacher. The board also accepted the resignation of Christopher Bachmeier as the assistant baseball coach.

The board also set hourly substitute stipends for the 2012-13 school year as follows: $13 for paraprofessional or teacher’s aide; $15.50 for custodial; $13 for library workers; $17 for the head cook; $13 for clerical; $13 for kitchen aide; $13 for dish washers; and $95 per day for teachers.

Seybert reported that requests to use the fitness center have been denied because custodial staff are cleaning the center and area around the room.

“The fitness center will not be available until further notice,” Seybert said.
