Most U.S. teachers, including I. Falls', spend almost $1,000 of own money to help kids

Falls Elementary School first-grade teacher Kim McDonald points out various education materials she and other teachers often purchase themselves. McDonald figures she spends herself about $1,000 annually on basic materials and other supplies, which is about the national average. But the district’s PIC now has a new Wishing Willow Program that connects generous folks and teachers to help fill in those gaps.
