Does anyone living on 5th street or anywhere in the Riverside Drive area of town, know why they want a low income community living center in their neighborhood at the Alexander/Backus school property? I can see whole blocks of inadequate houses which can be torn down and or much property located on the edge of town which can be developed into apartment complexes at what seems to be a lower cost than the cost to upgrade the old school buildings which previous administrations have ruled is not cost effective to do. The old buildings are sure nostelgic for me, as was the old hospital on 2nd and the even older fire trap hospital behind the bandshell and I sure hate to see them come down---but---maybe we dont actually need more housing in town. Actually I probably have alterior motives in that, as much as I like children I dont know if I want a bunch of them concentrated in a small area across the street from me.
