Starting to get the itch to open up the cabin and get the boat wet. Anyone got any thoughts on when ice will be declared officially off Rainy Lake? Personally I think the DJ should run a contest, and maybe the local chamber could get some sponsors with a few prizes to pike some interest. Even with bigger thinking....a contest including the Twin Cities folks with an opportunity to join into the fun with maybe a bigger prize...like a floating holiday or a stay at a resort. Generate some tourist interest...I often have said that Rainy Lake is the "best kept secret" in the State of Minnesota. Even if these folks don't win, it might generate some traffic to the IFalls area as a place to visit.
