Homeownership changes lives and enhances futures. Many Americans see homeownership as one of their greatest hopes, but many people believe they wouldn’t qualify to purchase a home of their own.
With the tight rental market in International Falls and Koochiching County, owning a home can be more affordable than renting for many families, but the process of home buying can feel out of reach and overwhelming.
Many first-time homebuyers think a 20 percent down payment is mandatory and that they need strong credit to buy a home, but that’s not accurate, and KOOTASCA’s Homebuyer program provides education on affordable mortgage options and supports, such as down-payment assistance, to make homeownership a reality, particularly for low and middle-income families and first-time homebuyers.
KOOTASCA can help navigate the buying process with certified Homeownership Education and free homeownership counseling services. Owning a home is one of the ways that families accrue wealth, and KOOTASCA is working to make homeownership possible for families in our community one home at a time.
KOOTASCA’s Home buying program is ready to work with prospective homebuyers to provide education and certified home-ownership counseling on the home-buying process and prepare them for successful ownership over the long term.
