Join us today, Wednesday, Dec. 19, between 4 and 6 p.m. for a holiday open house. We’ll have beverages and treats.

“Here, There, Everywhere” exhibit is still at the library. Don’t miss this wonderful chance to explore some basic science concepts that are present at local, global and universal levels. Each day we are putting out a different activity to explore these concepts and Saturdays we have a volunteer helping anyone interested in exploring more of the activities.

The holiday season is always a very busy time of year, but be sure and take time and help everyone in the family take some time to relax and read or watch a movie. The library has a wide variety of holiday books and movies to make you laugh, ponder, or even cry. Stop in and see what we have to help you keep your wits about you this busy time of year.

The Arrowhead Library System completed an upgrade of its circulation/catalog system last week. As part of the upgrade, the regional catalog can now be accessed directly from your Apple or Android mobile device. You need to install the free “Bookmyne” program from your devices app store. Once you have Bookmyne loaded you can search the catalog, log in to your account and place requests, check w-hat you have out and renew materials.

The library as a member of the Arrowhead Library System offers downloadable audiobooks and e-books for most mobile devices. This popular service can be accessed from our website at internationalfallslibrary.us (look for the electronic media link on the bottom right side of the main page. Or access directly at arrowhead.lib.overdrive.com. The company we contract with for this service also provides directions and electronic assistance if you are having trouble figuring out how to get books onto your device. The library can only provide limited assistance as we haven’t worked with many of the devices and many still require a computer with Internet access to utilize. The arrangement for most items is that only one person can be reading an item at a time, so like most library books, if someone else is using the item, you will need to put in a request for the item and wait until it is available. But there aren’t any late fees, the item returns automatically and goes to the next person.

A quick reminder as the weather gets cold. Please do NOT put audio visual material (DVDs, VHS, CD books etc.) into the outside book drop when the weather is below or going to be below zero. The plastic becomes very brittle at those temperatures and we’ve had items shatter in the past.

The library will be closed from 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, until noon on Wednesday, Dec. 26. Regular hours are Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday, noon to 8; Thursday and Friday, 10 to 6; and Saturday, 10 to 3. Junior room is open Monday, Thursday and Friday, 10 to 6; Tuesday, 10 to 8; Wednesday, noon to 6; and Saturday, 10 to 3.
