Readers of our print edition may have noticed we’ve undergone a few changes in the past couple months.
We made those changes in an effort to freshen the look of this newspaper and to make finding and reading the news easier. One of those changes did not accomplish that goal, and we are happy that readers felt comfortable telling us about it. While most of our readers were understanding about our efforts and had patience as we attempted to resolve the issue, a couple were a little more passionate than they needed to be while telling our staff about their concerns. We took this as an indication of how valuable the information contained in the newspaper is to them.
As a result of several calls and emails to us, we took action and Wednesday’s edition offered readers a larger print size. We hope that change will make for easier reading.
The Journal is this community’s newspaper and we welcome calls and emails from our loyal readers about news items, stories and changes they like, as well as don’t like in this publication. We do, however, ask that people treat our staff with respect when providing feedback to us. If you have a concern, compliment or question about something in The Journal, simply ask to talk to the appropriate staff. If it’s a news issue, ask to talk to me, the editor; if it’s an advertising issue, seek Mickie Olson, our advertising director; subscription issues should be brought to Dana Hartje, circulation director. Our emails and telephone contact information is printed regularly on Page 2A of our print edition and can be found under contacts in our digital edition.
We receive story ideas and news tips regularly, which we appreciate. Many times people assume that we know about news or happenings in our community, but sometimes we may not. So we are grateful to people who shoot us an email, leave a voice mail or give a note to our receptionists about news, events and issues that they believe we should cover.
Our limited resources don’t allow us to cover every event or happening in our community. We do our best to provide a taste of many events, but we often rely on help from our readers, many of which shoot photos and provide information that we can share with our readers.
Again, we appreciate the feedback we received about our print size and look forward to a continued meaningful relationship with our readers.
