Last night as I headed out for some peculiar reason I couldn't get the word "Snob" out of my "little head". It bothered me to the point I had to postpone heading out. Thinking about the word and it's meaning, I questioned myself on the possibility that my definition of the word could be wrong. Being of average intelligence unlike a snob, I was then forced to look up the definition just to see If my thinking was on track. Here's what I found. According to the on line dictionary I used, a snob is as follows.
Snob:
One who tends to patronize, rebuff, or ignore people regarded as social inferiors and imitate, admire, or seek association with people regarded as social superiors.
One who affects an offensive air of self-satisfied superiority in matters of taste or intellect.
Person who aspires to social prominence.
One who despises people or things regarded as inferior, especially because of social or intellectual pretension: elitist. Informal snoot.
IN BRIEF: One who imitates those of higher social position. Also: One who looks down on others considered to be less important.
"It is difficult to like and trust a snob because you never know why a snob wants to be your friend".
I felt better knowing that my average intellect was on track, and I could now head out and get on with more important things like Lynx hunting.
