An alleged hold up of a U.S. Border Patrol agent did NOT happen, according to the Beltrami County Sheriff.

Sheriff Phil Hodapp says his deputies responded to a Sunday night call of a Border Patrol agent being forced into a ditch by gunpoint by two suspects along Highway 71 near the Town of Funkley.

Hodapp says the FBI took over the investigation ... who told him Tuesday that the incident never happened.

The FBI would only tell FOX 21 that they are investigating an incident involving a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

The above was on FOX 21's online edition today (11-11-2010) and prompted me to once again ask just when all the corruption and wrongdoings by our Law enforcement is going to stop if ever.

Koochiching County and Int'l Falls has had and still do have their fair share of questionable practices by sworn officers of the law and it seems that we can add the Border Patrol to the mix.

How exactly does a Border Patrol agent get forced into a ditch at gunpoint? How can the FBI say that this incident never happened when I listened to the event unfold on my scanner. It was reported to the local dispatch and every law enforcement agency in the area was looking for a very specific vehicle as reported by this agent. Vehicles were subsequently randomly stopped looking for this alleged hold up person/persons.

Either this incident never happened at all and was reported to have happened or it in fact did happen and there is someone out there arrogant enough to pull over a Border Patrol agent with "red lights".Either scenario is alarming and should certainly be investigated and the results made public.

As I stated above, it seems that there is no end to the unethical and at times illegal practices of our law enforcement officers, and it seems that their superiors condone these practices. From ex felon pardoned sheriffs to officers convicted of DUI's with little to no accountability/punishment for their actions. To the contrary, it seems that promotions usually happen after their convictions.

It's time for the people to demand more from our law enforcement officers, and that they and their superiors need to know that they should and will be held to a higher standard than the common citizen.
