To the editor,
According to The Journal article of July 3, soon-to-be retired Mayor Shawn Mason has been chosen as the new EDA director. The article quotes Paul Eklund as saying he hopes the city council was “transparent” enough for the community.
Interesting choice of words as there were 11 candidates who applied for the position and only two candidates were interviewed. I believe it is customary to interview at least four or five persons for any given position.
We would hope that the council did their due diligence in picking the best person to fill this position.
Yes, the candidates were from other areas; but with today’s technology, interviews can be done via Internet and Skype programs.
