To the editor,
The election season is in full swing, and I am pleased Sen. (Amy) Klobuchar is on the ballot again. Where is Senator Klobuchar this political season? She is where she has been the last six years…working hard, looking for things that unite us, seeking common-sense solutions that make a difference for Minnesotans.
She continues to fight for our veterans to make sure they get the benefits they deserve. She will fall on her sword for middle class families, seniors and students. She has worked to keep our forest and paper industries strong by working to make sure Environmental Protection Agency rules concerning Boiler Maximum Achievable Control Technology do not unfairly affect biomass boilers that power our paper plants. She has worked to level the playing field for our industries so companies can manufacture their goods here at home and export their products overseas. She has teamed up with law enforcement to crack down on the use of synthetic drugs and was a leader in the effort to ban them through legislation.
Senator Klobuchar worked to secure funding for important infrastructure projects, like roads, bridges, airports – including working to guarantee service at our International Airport through the Essential Air Service program.
I have witnessed first-hand how hard Senator Klobuchar works. She is quick to respond to calls and e-mails, and quick to reach out. She understands our community and our economic challenges and opportunities. She knows it is imperative to help us retain and create jobs, protect our wood products industry, help grow our tourism industry and take advantage of our geographic location as it relates to logistics and transportation. She has built solid relationships with both Democrats and Republicans and finds ways to create win/win situations. Senator Klobuchar is much more than just a nice lady; she is a model for leadership that embodies hard work, integrity, honesty and character — important qualities for any politician. She has my vote Nov. 6.
