To the editor,

Northern Minnesota loggers, as well as most throughout the state, are facing many challenges. The uncertainties surrounding the Verso mill re-opening and a market saturated with blow down wood are daily concerns for logging and trucking businesses. The state of our timber markets impact: equipment dealers, tool dealers, foresters, insurance agents, and landowners, too!

I want encourage everyone who is involved in the timber industry to attend a meeting on August 1st, 6 p.m., at the Itasca Courthouse Boardroom (downstairs). We will have the opportunity to make our exact concerns known and share our solutions. This is a listening session that is set-up specifically for our lawmakers to hear directly from the loggers themselves. IT'S A CHANCE FOR US TO TALK! State Representative Carolyn McElfatrick as well as State Representative Greg Davids, who is the chair of the tax committee, will be in attendance to listen to us.

I would like to encourage every logging & trucking family to shut your equipment down a bit early and come prepared to share YOUR ideas. This is worth your time and we need to speak up!
