To the editor,

We are deeply saddened by the proposed marriage amendment to Minnesota’s Constitution. If this amendment passes, it will deny benefits to many of our citizens which should be enjoyed by all citizens.

The struggle for human rights has been a central issue in guaranteeing a fair and just society.

The issues won in the name of human rights have created justice where injustice has previously prevailed.

In this important vote, we will decide if we will create serious injustice, discrimination and despair for our neighbors, family and friends because of their sexual orientation, who wish only to enjoy a loving committed relationship.

No one in Minnesota in 2012 needs to be afraid or ashamed because of who they are or whom they love.

Vote “no” to this unjust, unequal amendment! We must continue the uplifting struggle to build a society of equality for all of our citizens.
