Our Declaration of Independence states in part “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights…”

The Founders of our Republic firmly believed that our Creator, not the government, granted us these rights; therefore, these God-given rights cannot be taken from us by our government.

Today’s leaders, however, behave as though human rights and liberties come from their own granting. They deny the Creator. At every turn, our bloated government takes every opportunity to provide us with our necessities. William Pitt, in the British House of Commons, said “Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human liberty; it is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.”

The federal government has taken over our health care system, or is in the process of trying to. They want to take away our second amendment rights. They are constantly trying to insert themselves into our free market economy utilizing the Environmental Protection Agency, Securities Exchange Commission, Food and Drug Administration, and a host of other agencies all under the guise of providing us with what we should be able to provide for ourselves. Even state governments have begun to redefine marriage, legalize vices and recast basic morals.

The United States of America used to be the last great hope for the underprivileged, the poor, the downtrodden and the persecuted. No more. Why have things degenerated?

I believe the answer to this question is as simple as it is profound, and is free to all who take the time to look for it. It is found in the Bible, Romans 1:21-32. Basically what this section is saying is that when a people leave or otherwise deny their moral anchor and start to depend on themselves for all the answers, God (Creator) gives them up to their own depraved mind. Much of what we see happening throughout our nation is the result.

In a recent poll, fully 70 percent of the people interviewed stated that what is needed in this country is a return to our religious foundation. With this foundation we cannot fail, without it we most assuredly will.

I strongly urge you to read and take the time to think about what is said in this Bible passage. If you agree with what it says, stand up and be counted. Make your voice heard and help our nation return to the moral foundation on which America was founded.
