To the editor,

I am proud to be a member of Paul Eklund’s mayoral candidacy committee, because I know he will be a fantastic mayor. Paul Eklund is a hard working working-man, who brings to this candidacy a refreshing humility and openness that is so often lacking in politics. Indeed one of his best qualities is that he is not a politician, but a regular guy who is deeply committed to the improved future of this town. Paul has proven this in action countless times and ways.

As mayor, Paul will bring thoughtfulness and wisdom to the table. Paul is not that 'my way or the highway' guy; he is the guy who is inviting and encouraging information from diverse sources and listening carefully to their input; he is that guy who is creating coalitions and empowering the disenfranchised; he is that guy who is tough but fair, honest, and ethical. As mayor, Paul Eklund is that guy who has the courage to do what is right, not just what looks good.

Paul Eklund also has the unique position of having personal insight into hospital’s employees, the hospital's administration, the (local) health care consumers, the local governance (with regard to the hospital and clinic) and the regular populace. This is a man who can and will bridge the communication gap that has divided this community into bitter factions, and allow us to heal, and move forward to a successful future.

On Nov 6, I will be casting my ballot for progress, transparency and honesty. I will be casting my vote to keep International Falls moving forward. On Nov 6, I will be voting to elect Paul Eklund as our next mayor. Join me.
