It’s been my pleasure to know Mike Holden for the past eight years. Whether it’s been in my capacity as director of Backus, bass board member or citizen, I’ve come to know Mike as a person who genuinely cares about this community and its citizens of all ages. His dedication to youth is one of the first things that impressed me. Mike has given countless hours and many years of service both in coaching and administration of youth programs.
Like many of our city employees, Mike goes the extra mile in his capacity as head electrician for the city of International Falls. His work ethic, pride in a job well done, positive attitude, and relationships with co-workers are exceptional.
In my 34 years as a teacher and community education director in Blackduck, I saw dozens of school board members come and go. Some had axes to grind, some had personal agendas, some didn’t like a particular program or teacher and many were excellent school board members.
Mike Holden does not have a hidden agenda, an axe to grind or any negative characteristics that would impede his ability to serve as a positive board member. He cares about kids, staff, community and our schools.
Mike’s dedication to youth, his union experience as a leader and negotiator, his integrity, character, honesty and his commitment to community are all reasons why I support his candidacy for school board.
