To the editor,

A “voter suppression” amendment requiring government photo ID is on our November ballot. Your no vote is greatly needed.

We are reminded of the voter suppression laws used in southern states only a few decades ago to keep African American citizens from voting.

These disgusting laws were finally revealed for what they were  — unjust and discriminatory. Only with courageous action by involved citizens during the civil rights movement of the 60s and 70s were these laws struck down.

This is a thinly disguised amendment to keep many Americans from voting because of lost birth certificates or the cost of obtaining “proper” documentation.

Please  vote no.
