To the editor,

Well, the dust has settled and the election is over. What now? Apparently some of those who voted didn’t pay close attention to what our reelected president has said prior to his gaining a second term (and a few things he is mentioning now).

He has stated many times that he wished to restrict gun ownership and now he will have a chance. The U.N. has a treaty that they wish the U.S. to sign onto. If approved by the Senate and signed by the president, it becomes the law of the land. It will outlaw private ownership of all firearms. Goodbye to hunting or home protection. (But you can probably throw rocks).

There is another U.N. treaty concerning control of coastal waters which they have tried to get the U.S. to agree to sign. It would take away the right of the U.S. to have sole control of oil drilling, etc. ... off our coasts. It would be open to any nation ... China perhaps?

CNN News reported several days ago that the president and the Environmental Protection Agency have listed some 280 coal fired generating plants they would like shut down and dismantle (pollution you know!) Perhaps we should invest in candle stock.

Finally, you may want to listen closely for plans to reduce the deficit. Soaking the millionaires isn’t going to cut it. The plan now is going to be higher taxes for the middle class. It won’t be a small tax either. Happy April 15.
