Amazing!

That's all I can say when I decided to look.

That link shows a break down by county of federal stimulus money set aside for projects.

Out of ALL of the counties that have received money (only 8 have received zero) - Koochiching County is the lowest. LOWEST!!!

We only have three projects submitted (all from VNP) according to the data, and have only been allocated $12,500 so far - and then on what?

BEAR PROOF CONTAINERS FOR THE PARK!!!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

WHAT THE HELL IS THE CITY AND COUNTY GOVERNMENTS DOING IN KOOCHICHING COUNTY?????

There were no other projects aside from Bear Proof Containers, Fire Rings, and Fiber Glass Toilets to submit?

I swear to god - if the only other thing we submitted for was for a road past that Foreign Trade Zone I'm going to snap.

See some other county data:

Lake of the Woods County - $250,000 - Runway Replacement. (3,900 pop.)

Lake County - $390,000 - Water System Improvements (10,600 pop.)

Kittson County - $785,000 - Bridge replacement. (4,400 pop.)

Clearwater County - $4.5 Million - Road Construction (8,200 pop.)

Beltrami County - $8.3 Million - Tons of Construction (43,000 pop.)

Itasca County - $14.2 Million - Road Construction (44,000 pop.)

Marshall County - $16.6 Million - Roads, Bridges, Misc. (9,500 pop.)

The list goes ON!!!

Aside from Beltrami and Itasca - we have more population then the rest listed. I mean Marshall County is getting over $16 Million.

Don't we have roads that can be redone?

International Falls sure can!

Doesn't Ranier (pending annexation) - need a water line overhaul?

What about Big Falls, Little Fork, Mizpah, or Northome?

What about Ray, Indus, Loman or Birchdale?

For all those that live within Koochiching County - I would be calling your city and county officials and asking for an explanation.

Members of the Daily Journal - that call themselves Journalists - Investigate!

Any politician out there - if you know of a ton of projects that were submitted and just defeated please educate me and the rest of the readers.

And this isn't a debate on whether its right or wrong to spend the stimulus money - so I'm stopping you right there Roj - you can start that conversation on a different blog.

This is about getting money that is being made available by the federal government for improvement projects across the country. And what looks like a total and complete failure on the part of our elected officials to go the distance for their citizens.

AMAZING! And not - I repeat NOT - in a good way. Amazingly Ridiculous!
