As some of you know - and some of you don't. I left town to persue a college degree at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. Well they love their football down here, about as much as we love our hockey up there.

I was at the Kansas State game last night - where there were 85,989 people in attendance. Thats right - 6 times as many people that live in Kooch County - fit into this stadium.

Well low and behold I find out that one of our star defensive players is up for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy. And people have been finding it crazy that I happen to be FROM Bronko's hometown.

His name is Ndamukong (en-DOM-uh-ken) Suh (soo), he's hailed as one of the best defensive players in college football today, and is slated to be drafted into the NFL in the First Round of the Draft this year.

I thought that it may be nice, and maybe some free publicity for our lovely little town. If we embraced Mr. Suh, and wished him good luck in hopefully winning this years Trophy.

You can see some highlights here:

If this is something people feel has merit - please let me know - and I will let some of the press down here know about you up there.

Just a thought. :)

Here is the press release on his nomination:

Nebraska's Ndamukong (en-DOM-uh-ken) Suh (soo) is a finalist for the 2009 Bronko Nagurski Trophy.

The award is sponsored by the Charlotte Touchdown Club and the Football Writers Association of America. It's given to the nation's top college defensive player.

The four other finalists: Iowa linebacker Pat Angerer, Tennessee safety Eric Berry, Alabama nose tackle Terrence Cody and TCU defensive end Jerry Hughes.

Nagurski was a star fullback and defensive tackle at Minnesota, 1927-29.

Nose tackle Suh has 56 tackles so far this season, including 13 for loss and five sacks.

He's a finalist for the Lombardi Award, a semifinalist for the Lott and Bednarik trophies and is one of 15 "players to watch" for the Walter Camp National Player of the Year honor.
