Lake sturgeon

The sturgeon was caught by Jason Caylor, right, and landed by his father, Jeff Caylor, at left. Jason’s son, Brendon Caylor, at bottom, also helped in the effort. In addition, Kelly Caylor, Jason’s wife, also helped and took the photo.

Jason Caylor shared this photo of a healthy about 60-pound sturgeon caught and released on Rainy Lake May 27.

Caylor, of Springfield, Mo., caught the fish with help from his son, Brendon Caylor, while his father, Jeff Caylor landed the fish. His wife Kelly Caylor also assisted in the catch, and took the photograph.

“We did release the fish healthy after we caught him,” Caylor said.

The sturgeon sported a Minnesota Department of Natural Resources tag No. 83,055, which Jason Caylor reported to the DNR.

The fish was caught just south of Brule Island, north of Soldier Point.
