A ring-necked pheasant was spotted roaming around Keenan Drive Wednesday morning. Meadow Kouffeld, Department of Natural Resources assistant area wildlife manager, said the popular game bird is uncommon to northern Minnesota and are usually seen in the area when being used for training dogs. Kouffeld continued that the bird is typically found in southern Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and in parts of Wisconsin. Many locals report the pheasant has hung around the area for awhile and has been seen by numerous people.
