Nick Christianson, 11, poses with the winnings he earned as the best youth at the World Taxidermy and Fish Carving Competition held May 7 through May 11 in Springfield, Ill. Nick received the awards for a pine martin he trapped and mounted himself. Nick's father, Bob Christianson who owns Gannon Ridge Taxidermy, said he was “very proud” of his son. In addition to his awards, Nick received $1,000 from a couple who won the collective artist competition at the world show. The money will be put towards education in taxidermy.
