The river level at Rainy River, Ontario, has increased rapidly to 1,065 feet by Monday. The Town of Rainy River has reissued the call for sandbagging volunteers as the level there has come up nearly 20 cm today.
Here are the latest flow and water level numbers from late Wednesday afternoon, June 18. Data for Thursday have not been post yet but will be available around noon today.
Rainy Lake was about 30 inches above the Upper Rule Curve. Inflow was rising as the lake level rises. The Rainy Lake level was at 1110.7 ft.
Rainy River elevation below the dam rose to over 1,093 feet Monday but is now coming down.
The Rainy River flow at Manitou Rapids is higher than in 1950, the highest level in 85 years of record. Rainy River level at Manitou Rapids was 0.64 ft above previous record stage, but is now receding.
The elevation at the Town of Rainy River, Ontario, went to about 1,066 feet, and an all record time record flow.
The Littlefork and Bigfork Rivers flows exceeded their peaks at all time highs earlier this week but are now receding.
Namakan Lake was about 30 inches above the Upper Rule Curve band, also above the All Gates Open Level. All gates have been open since May 16). The level on Namakan was about 1,120.5 ft and reached its peak so far this year. Inflow was greater than outflow.
Conditions in the upper portion of the Namakan Basin on Wednesday were:
- The Basswood Lake level was down. Outflow was at 142 cm³/s down from about 215 CMS.
- Lac La Croix Lake level has decreased slightly to 1,189.2 ft. Both inflow and outflow levels were declining from peak highs.
- Vermillion River flow has was decreased from 97 cms to 81 cm³/s,
- Seine River outflow was coming down slightly, but still very high at 170 cm³/s.
- Turtle River flow was still rising Wednesday at about 215 CMS.
