L-BF School Board discusses next school year
The Littlefork-Big Falls School Board met last Wednesday, just two days before the school’s 35 graduates of the Class of 2009 received their diplomas.
The group of children coming into the school as kindergartners next fall is smaller, according to Superintendent Fred Seybert. A total of 15 youngsters will join the L-BF School for the first time in the 2009-2010 school year.
Seybert reports that the board approved the 2009-10 preliminary budget with total revenues at $4.62 million and expenditures at $4.51 million.
“With the general fund exceeding expenditures at just $21,000, it’s going to mean belt-tightening for the district,” Seybert said.
In other business, the board approved a resolution which calls for the Nov. 3 school board election. Positions held by incumbent board members Anita Gray, Keith Knaeble and Mike Imhof will all be running for their positions again, according to Seybert.
A report on forestlands owned by the district was presented to the board. The land will be cruised by a timber professional to determine how many cords of wood the lands would yield. Based on current pricing, it will be decided if this is an appropriate time to harvest the timber.
The next negotiations meeting for certified staff is June 24. A date for non-certified negotiations has not yet been set.
L-BF students of the month are junior high student Marissa Siltman, and high school student Justin Franz.
