Hunting fatality: At 9 a.m. Saturday, the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center was notified that Donald Zane Bixby, 64, Bemidji, was killed when he was shot by Phillip Bruce Nyland, 48, Bemidji, while both men were hunting in Section 16 of Turtle River Township about nine miles northeast of Bemidji near Concordia Language Village. The two hunters were acquaintances, but were not hunting together.

Roll over: A vehicle driven by Jeremy R. Nelson, 34, County Road 2 North, struck a road approach Saturday on County Road 2, and rolled over. According to the report, Nelson was taken by ambulance to the Rainy Lake Medical Center hospital campus.

Deer stand injury: Paul L. Thorson, Minneapolis, 62, was taken by Blackduck ambulance to a hospital in Bemidji Friday after he fell while working on a deer stand near Highway 1 and County Road 26 near Northome. According to the report, Thorson broke his leg and was able to call for help by cell phone.

Located: David R. Hoppe, 50, Wasilla, Alaska, was located Friday after he became lost attempting to get around a beaver dam on the East Gemmel Ridge Road. According to the report, Hoppe kept in contact with members of his deer camp via cell phone and yelling. Hoppe was located by Conservation Officer Randy Patten as he was coming out of the woods.

Burglary: David J. Boll, address unavailable, reported Thursday that a hunting shack on Highway 1 near Northome was forcibly entered through a window. According to the report, two shotguns, a .22 caliber rifle and a weed whacker were taken.
