Gas leaks: The department, by policy, responded to a gas leak at 10 a.m. Monday in the area of 17th Street and Eighth Avenue, and at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday at 1721 First Ave. E. Department officials said Minnesota Energy, or its contractors, are replacing gas lines and lines were broken in the process. The department is at the scene during breaks to ensure safety of the gas crews and the community, said a department spokesman.
