Vehicle theft, recovery: A male suspect from Cook was taken into custody Tuesday after a vehicle was reported stolen that day from the Cook Veterans of Foreign Wars post. The vehicle was recovered on First Avenue in the Falls. According to the report, the vehicle's OnStar system located the stolen vehicle and disabled the vehicle so it could not be started. No damage was reported.
Collision: A squad car driven by Police Officer Terry Christie, 52, Falls, collided Dec. 29 with a light pole at SuperOne, 1313 Third Street causing more than $1,000 damage.
Arrest: A 41-year old man was arrested Tuesday for shooting in the backyard of his Sixth Street residence. Capt. Tom Lynch said that it is a felony to recklessly discharge a firearm within a municipality.

Vehicle fire: A van belonging to Darwin L. Hostetler, Highway 71, Littlefork, was destroyed when it caught on fire at his residence Tuesday. According to the report, the vehicle's block heater had been plugged in and may have caused the fire.
Snowmobile accident: A snowmobile driven by Melissa L. Wolden, Big Falls, struck an approach near Big Falls causing Wolden to fall from the machine. No major injuries were reported.
Arrest: A 20-year old Falls man was arrested after the vehicle he was driving left County Road 2 Tuesday. According to the report, the man, who was wanted in a warrant, fled on foot and was located by local law officers about one mile in the woods. Two passengers in the vehicle, Benjamin H. Swenson, 22, and Amy E. Scholler, 39, were taken by ambulance to the Rainy Lake Medical Center hospital clinic.
