The Ranier Council Monday approved a resolution calling for a public hearing for the Three Points North water project.

The public meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at Ranier Community Building, will allow for residents impacted by the addition of the water lines to voice concerns and learn how their properties will be assessed for the water lines following the completion of the project.

In other action Monday, the council granted a building permit to Fred Woods who is adding on to his house located on Spruce Street.

The council also tabled a building permit request from Pat and Kate Miller until next month’s meeting. According to City Clerk Kim Nuthak, the request was tabled to allow the council more time to consider the Millers’ proposal.

Nuthak reports that the couple recently purchased a home on Pine Street and are looking to build an addition to the structure.

The council agreed to reimburse Nuthak and Nick Sears, city maintenance, a monthly amount of $40 for their cell phones.

The council also agreed to purchase a new computer for Deputy Clerk Tara Mai in the amount of $1,132 from I Falls PC.

Concerns regarding the future of the Ranier Post Office were also addressed. A complete story on the issue will appear in Saturday’s edition of The Journal.

The Ranier Liquor Store’s year-to-date net profit is $22,160 — which is almost half of last year’s $41,066 at this time.
