A Bemidji woman was killed late Tuesday after she reportedly stabbed a man and fled in a vehicle which overturned.

Traci J. Cloud, 24, was dead at the scene on Highway 89 near Bemidji, said the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident began at about 10 p.m. when deputies were called to a residence in Eckles Township, which borders the city of Bemidji to the west, on the report of a man being assaulted by a woman, later determined to be Cloud, with a knife.

Raymond E. Oliver, 25, of Red Lake, went to a neighbor, who called 911 and rendered aid to Oliver’s injuries. While deputies responded to the scene, information was received that Cloud was outside the neighbor’s residence in her vehicle.

As deputies arrived on scene they immediately located the suspect vehicle and signaled for the vehicle to stop. The driver fled at a high rate of speed, across neighboring yards, to the roadway where a pursuit was initiated that traveled from the Alps Court location, northbound on Trunk Highway 89.

During the pursuit, the vehicle left the roadway, over corrected, lost control and the vehicle overturned. Cloud was the lone occupant of the vehicle. Deputies, along with Red Lake police officers and Minnesota State Patrol troopers, immediately began rendering aid. Bemidji and Red Lake ambulances arrived on scene.

Oliver was transported to the Sanford Emergency Department for the treatment of his injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol and the Beltrami County Coroner’s Office.
