An International Falls man was killed and his passenger injured at about 8 p.m. Wednesday on Gamma Road in Kabetogama when the vehicle they were in rolled and struck a tree.
Driver Jonathon E. Stevenson, 43, was killed at the scene, according to a release from the St. Louis County Sheriff's Department. Passenger Tara D. Reller, 38, International Falls, was taken by helicopter to a Duluth hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The car, traveling southeast on Gamma Road, was coming out of a curve when the driver appears to have lost control, over corrected and rolled, said the release. The car struck a tree on the opposite side of the road.
Excessive speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, according to the sheriff's department.
The Minnesota State Patrol, Kabetogama Fire and First Responders and the International Falls Ambulance assisted at the scene.
