Off road: Deputies responded Friday to a report of a vehicle off the roadway on County Road 133, where driver Laura Stoiber, 49, County Road 133, reported that she slid off the roadway and struck a tree. No injuries were reported. Damage exceeded $1,000.
Mailboxes struck: Heather Swanson, 32, reported she was traveling eastbound on County Road 24 when she swerved to miss a deer and struck a post with multiple mailboxes on it. One of the mailboxes came through her front windshield. No injuries were reported. Damage exceeded $1,000.

False alarm: Firefighters responded to the Rainy River Community College dormitory, where french fries cooked at very high heat resulted in a room full of smoke, which firefighters ventilated.
