RANIER — The Ranier City Council Monday agreed to advertise for bids for the Three Points North water project.

In September, the council rejected a bid from Wagner Construction Inc. after an Aug. 24  bid opening for the Three Points North project revealed that lone-bidder Wagner Construction offered to do the project for $540,713.

The council in September said the bid was higher than expected. A feasibility study conducted by the project’s engineering firm, Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc., estimated the project would cost about $419,000.

Current bids for the project will be due to the Ranier City Clerk’s office by 11 a.m. April 11.

The project will bring about 33 new water customers to the city.

In other action Monday, the council agreed to adopt a resolution to reestablish precincts.

“Basically nothing changes,” said Mayor Ed Oerichbauer. “French and Jameson will be in one precinct and ‘old Ranier’ will be in one. The polling place will be the (Ranier) community building.”
