International Falls’ Billy “The Kidd” Christianson needed only 31 seconds to win his Mixed Martial Arts pro fight at 150 pounds in Saturday night’s “Caged Chaos at Canterbury Park 2” in Shakopee.

Christianson, who improved his record to 7-3, defeated Jason Benson, whose record dropped to 3-5, on an opening-round “rear-naked choke” submission hold.

Christianson, who trains with Borderland Combat Sports in the Falls area and is making the transition from fighting at 155 to 145 pounds, has his next bout scheduled at Black Bear Casino on May 25 when he faces Wes Ronchi of Grand Rapids in the Main Event for Fearless Fighting Championships at 145 pounds.

Another fighter who trains with Borderland Combat Sports, Nick Reece, had an amateur fight Saturday night at 165 pounds against Logan McPadden of Sioux Falls, S.D., that ended up in a draw after three rounds.

Reece is also scheduled to fight next on May 25 at 155 pounds against an opponent to be determined.
