Broncos part of winning All-Stars
International Falls boys hockey head coach Bruce Elson and two Bronco players, senior forward Lucas DeBenedet and defenseman Nick Anderson, were on the winning All-Star team this week when the Iron Range defeated Duluth in the St. Luke’s Orthopedics and Sports Medicine High School All-Star Hockey Series.
“It was a lot of fun,” said Elson, who was selected to be the Iron Range All-Stars’ head coach.
In game one on Tuesday in Grand Rapids, the Iron Range defeated Duluth, 6-4.
However, in game two Wednesday at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth, the Duluth All-Stars won, 8-5, forcing a 5-minute “mini-game,” in which the Iron Range came out on top, 3-0.
