Jake Casareto of International Falls, a senior shortstop on the College of St. Scholastica baseball team, has a batting average of .313 after 11 games this season.
In 32 at-bats, Casareto, who has started all 11 games for the Saints in 2013, has recorded 10 hits with two runs and four runs batted in. He has two multiple-base hits, in which he had a double and a home run in a 6-3 loss March 4 against St. Thomas at the Metrodome.
Casareto also pitched an inning in the 13-3 victory against Hilbert College on March 15, when he gave up an earned run with a hit and a walk.
St. Scholastica, which has a record of 8-3, returns to action this weekend when the Saints face Concordia University on Saturday and Sunday in Chicago.
