The Fort Frances Lakers of the Superior International Junior Hockey League have announced their first signing of the 2013-14 season — forward Lucas DeBenedet, 18, a 2013 graduate of International Falls High School.
This past season for the Broncos, DeBenedet tallied 56 points in 25 games, including 25 goals.
“Lucas will bring speed and skill to our lineup,” said Lakers head coach and general manager Wayne Strachan. “We are very excited to have Lucas join our team, as he had many choices, and we feel he will be a big part of our organization this upcoming season.”
In 2012-13, the Lakers had three Falls High School graduates on their team — Jordan Christianson (Class of 2010), Alex Bruess (2011) and Mason Meyer (2012).
