The Vikings will be back in action Thursday night when they host Fond du Lac Ojibwe.

BOYS HOCKEY

Hibbing 3, I. Falls 1

The 2012-13 season began Tuesday night for the International Falls boys hockey team similar to how the previous year ended by losing to Hibbing.

The Broncos led 1-0 after the first period on a goal from Erik Lassila assisted by Lucas DeBenedet. Then the Bluejackets responded with three second-period goals to win on their home ice, 3-1.

Falls head coach Bruce Elson said the Broncos didn't play solid for all three periods.

"We came out in the second period a little bit flat," he said.

Falls goalie Wesley Gunnerson made 34 saves as he recorded the loss.

The 0-1 Broncos next play at home Saturday afternoon against Little Falls.
