A 7-run sixth inning put the finishes touches Friday on the International Falls baseball team’s second consecutive victory to open the 2012 season.
The Broncos recorded 9 hits and gave up only three as they won at Virginia, 15-1, in six innings.
Christian Kittelson accounted for 4 hits, while Gunnar Anderson added two more with single hits coming from John Bartkowski, Kevin Kilbride and Caleb Dahlin for the Falls.
Dahlin pitched five innings to record the victory, allowing an earned run and 2 hits with a walk while striking out five. Kittelson gave up a hit and struck out two pitching the sixth inning.
Patrick Anderson pitched 3 2/3 innings as he took the loss for the Blue Devils, allowing 7 runs, four earned, on 3 hits with 5 walks while striking out seven. Jacob Quick pitched the final 2 1/3 innings in relief, allowing 8 runs, seven earned, on 6 hits with 3 walks while striking out five.
Tuesday’s game rescheduled
The less-than-ideal weather conditions for baseball resulted in Tuesday’s home game against Eveleth-Gilbert being rescheduled for April 24.
