In a contest that went almost double the distance of the typical length of a high school baseball game, International Falls ended up losing on the road Thursday in 13 innings to Greenway, 3-2.

The contest was tied 1-1 after seven innings. Both teams tallied a run in the 10th. Then Greenway scored the winning run in the bottom of the 13th.

The Broncos started on the mound with senior Christian Kittelson, who went nine innings, giving up an earned run on 3 hits with 7 walks while striking out five.

Caleb Dahlin pitched the next two innings, allowing an earned run on a hit with 3 walks while striking out two.

Ben Humbert picked up the loss for the Falls after pitching the final two innings, giving up an earned run on a hit with 3 walks and two batters hit by a pitch to go along with a strikeout.

At the plate, Falls outhit Greenway, 12-5.

Kittelson had 3 singles and a double to lead the Broncos. Jackson Vollom and Gunnar Anderson both added 2 hits.

Greenway’s starting pitcher, Alex Troumbly, went 10 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 10 hits with a walk while striking out two. Jayden Gangl pitched three shutout innings in relief to record the victory, allowing 2 hits with 3 walks while striking out two.

Troumbly led Greenway at the plate with 2 hits.

The Falls, which is now 3-2 for the season, plays a doubleheader today at Hermantown.
