International Falls’ baseball team generated a single hit and no runs Friday when the Broncos lost their regular season finale against Ely, 1-0, at Scheela Field.
Ely’s starting pitcher, Greg Helget, worked four innings without allowing a hit as he walked four batters and had 4 strikeouts.
The Timberwolves’ reliever, Wes Snyder, recorded the victory as he pitched the final three innings, giving up a hit to Falls senior Christian Kittelson while walking three and striking out seven.
Ely registered both of its hits and scored its only run off of Falls starting pitcher Caleb Dahlin, who took the loss and also had 3 walks and hit two batters while striking out seven in five innings of work.
Snyder and Louis Gerzin each had a hit for Ely.
Broncos freshman Ben Humbert didn’t allow a hit or a run pitching the final two innings when he had a walk with 3 strikeouts.
The Falls ended the regular reason at 13-6 and enters the Section 7AA Tournament as the No. 4 seed in its Sub-Section and hosts No. 5-seeded Greenway at 4:30 p.m. today. The two teams faced each other twice during the regular season and split both games with the home team winning.
