Falls’ boys and girls cross country teams opened their season at Monday’s invitational at Thief River Falls with both teams recording third-place finishes.
In the girls competition, Warroad finished first with 54 points, followed by Roseau with 85 and the Broncos with 89.
Falls’ best individual finish came from eighth-grader Lexi Erickson, who finished the 4,000-meter course in 17 minutes, 51 seconds with a third-place finish for team points. Amber Harms was the only other Bronco girls runner to finish in under 20 minutes in 19:37 for 14th place.
In the boys competition, host Thief River Falls won the meet with the top score of 42 points, followed by Roseau (55), the Falls (73) and Bagley/Fosston (87).
Two Bronco boys runners completed the 5,000-meter course in under 20 minutes to place in the top 10 for team points. Seniors Marco Griffith and Cade MacKay finished sixth and eighth, respectively, in 19:28 and 19:40.
Falls’ junior high teams also competed Monday at Thief River Falls with the girls placing fourth and boys coming in fifth on the 3,200-meter course.
