The International Falls boys swimming and diving team has two weeks to prepare for the section meet after closing out its dual meet schedule with two meets this week.
The Falls held its final home dual meet of the season Tuesday when the Broncos hosted Mesabi East for Parents' Night.
The Giants, who placed first in nine of the 10 contested events and swam the final two varsity events for exhibition purposes only, outscored the Falls, 65-34.
"I think our team did a great job (Tuesday)," said Falls assistant coach Michelle Hebner. "We had a lot of personal bests once again."
Among the contested varsity events, the Broncos recorded a first-place individual finish from sophomore Alex Belanger in the 100-yard butterfly (1 minute, 1.09 seconds).
"I think his butterfly was great," Hebner said. "He's one of our strongest swimmers."
Belanger also finished second in the 100 backstroke (1:09.94).
Falls junior Jared Hunter, who had the second-fastest time in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.77), also placed second in the 200 individual medley (2:31.38).
The Broncos' best finish in the contested relay events came from Hunter, Belanger and sophomores Ben Keeney and Tanner Sether placing second in the 200 medley relay (2:01.31), 27-hundredths of a second behind Mesabi East's winning time.
In the 200 freestyle relay, the Giants' Bob DeLage, Sam Hunt, Levi Jofs and Ben Brunfelt set a new pool record by placing first in 1:34.52. Hunter and Sether teamed up in that event with sophomore Colin Hebner and eighth-grader Alex Bissonnette to place third in 1:52.45.
Mesabi East also had the top time in the 400 freestyle relay (3:58.39), but swam that event for exhibition purposes only. The Falls' best time of 4:25.37 came from Belanger, Keeney, Sether and Hebner.
