The Bronco girls golf team finished third at Wednesday’s International Falls Invitational held at the Falls Country Club.
Eveleth-Gilbert ended up with the top team score of 389, followed by Hibbing (400), the Falls (466), Dryden (500) and Virginia (594).
Broncos junior Katie West finished in second place with a 94 for 18 holes, six strokes behind the top score of Eveleth-Gilbert senior Maddy Sjoberg at 88.
Falls’ other golfers and their scores included sophomore Jenna Anderson (109), and eighth-graders Casi Pullar (125), Olivia Besch (138), Shelby Harmening (141) and Nikki Skifstrom (144).
Bronco boys fourth
In the boys competition, the Broncos finished fourth.
Dryden had the top team score of 311, followed by Virginia (318), Eveleth-Gilbert (332), the Falls (353) and Hibbing (381).
Dryden senior Josh Kitt finished first individually with a 76, a stroke ahead of two teammates, juniors Kirk Markowski and Josh Brunton, and Virginia junior Andy Sederlund at 77.
The Broncos’ top individual finish came from junior Brady Walls, who finished eight strokes off the lead with an 84.
Falls’ other players and their scores included freshman Eric Cann (89), senior Zach Manka and eighth-grader Brady Wright (both 90), and eighth-graders Riley Nemec (98) and Brock O’Laughlin (110).
Bronco boys sixth
at Eagle Ridge
The Bronco boys team had its first meet of the season Monday at the Eagle Ridge Invitational.
Grand Rapids ended up with the top team score of 311 followed by Hermantown (316), Bemidji (333), Virginia (336), Eveleth-Gilbert (347), the Falls (348), Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin (349), Hibbing (366) and North Woods (390).
Hermantown’s Josh Becks recorded the top individual score of 72.
Manka had the best 18-hole round for the Broncos with an 84, followed by Walls (86), Cann (88), Nemec (90) and Wright (98).
