International Falls’ girls swimming and diving team placed fifth out of nine teams in Saturday’s Hibbing Invitational.

Bemidji had the top team score with 508.5 points, followed by Grand Rapids (485.5), Hibbing (399), Cambridge-Isanti (365) and the Falls (146) rounding out the top five.

The Broncos’ best individual showings came from junior Breanna Shofner, who placed fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (27.91 seconds) and sixth in the 100 freestyle (1:02.14).

Falls recorded three top-10 finishes in the 100 breaststroke when Sarah Todd, Emily Saari, and Claire Herzig placed seventh, eighth and 10th with respective times of 1:19.61, 1:20.70 and 1:22.89.

Two Bronco relays placed in the top 10.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Blair Johnson, Courtney Klow, Todd and Shofner placed eighth in 1:56.04. Those same four swimmers placed 10th in the 200 medley relay in 2:10.81.
