International Falls’ girls swimming and diving team had only one top-three individual finish Saturday when the Broncos placed fifth out of 11 teams at the Taconite Invitational hosted by Mesabi East High School.

 Duluth East won with the top score of 335 points, followed by Two Harbors/Silver Bay (198), Superior (137), Virginia (122) and the Falls (121) rounding out the top five.

Broncos senior Sarah Todd recorded the team’s best individual finish when she placed third in the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 37.67 seconds. She also finished seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1:21.00).

Falls junior Breanna Shofner placed fourth in both the 50 freestyle (27.21) and 100 freestyle (1:01.41).

Broncos junior Courtney Klow finished fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:11.95) and also came in 10th in the 200 individual medley (2:46.14).  

Todd, Shofner and Klow joined eighth-grader Emily Saari for a fourth-place finish in the 200 medley relay (2:08.27).

Shofner, Todd, junior Blair Johnson and eighth-grader Claire Herzig combined for a fifth-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay (1:55.00).

Johnson joined junior Kariann Arnold, sophomore Jenna Anderson and eighth-grader Emma Misner for an eighth-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (4:23.45).

Two Bronco sophomore divers finished in the top 12 when Jessie Hell placed seventh (224.65 points) and Clara Wenger came in 11th (206.15).

Freshman Abby Kostiuk placed ninth in the 100 backstroke (1:13.94).

Herzig added a 12th-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:23.55).
