The International Falls girls track and field team has received awards from the Minnesota High School Track Coaches’ Association, which gives out individual Academic All-State Awards and an Academic All-State Team Award.
To earn an Academic All-State Award, recipients must have a Grade Point Average of 3.6 or higher and meet one of the following criteria: 1. qualify for the state track meet; 2. earn All-Conference honors; or 3. meet the event honor roll standard set by the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association.
The Broncos’ Academic All-State Award winners include:
• Hailey Fentem — All-Conference in long jump and met standards in both long jump and 100-meter hurdles
• Savanah Olson — All-Conference in shot put and discus as well as met the standards for both events.
• Amy Auran — All-Conference in pole vault.
• Valandre Butler — All-Conference in the 4x100 relay and met the standard for the 4x100.
• Jaci Scholler — All-Conference in the 4x100 relay and met the standard for the 4x100.
• Lexi Erickson — Met the standard in the 3200 run.
The average of the Bronco girls’ top-10 GPAs was 3.86, earning the team the “Gold” status Academic All-State Team Award.
The individuals who had the top-10 GPAs for the Falls — for which the GPAs could only be taken from ninth- through 12th-graders, not seventh- or eighth-graders — include Tayler Hebner, Brittany Fisher, Amy Auran, Kelsey Eibler, Maddie Filipiak, Hailey Fentem, Jaci Scholler, Rachel Foss, Blair Johnson and Lindsey Granrud.
